Pokemon Go Halloween Go 2017 event: When is it, what can we expect and more

What is it?

Pokemon Go is a a new 'augmented reality' game developed for smartphones by creators Niantic along with Nintendo and The Pokemon Company.
It launched in July 2016 and you play it by downloading an app for Android or iPhone devices.

Augmented reality means you see a view of the real world that is enhanced by computer-generated images or sound.
A Halloween event is in the pipeline for October.

What will happen during it?

Last year a similar event took place where the spawn rate of certain monsters was upped for a limited time by Niantic.
Some of the Pokémon included make perfect sense, Haunter, Ghastly, Drowzee and Zubat - psychic or ghost types in the spirit of the season.
Other species seem to be more about the monsters link to Team Rocket, the evil organisation players fight in the Nintendo game.
They may seem like small changes but it does give users another reason to get back into the game.
The Halloween themed update also paved the way for other possible seasonal updates.
Gamers got double candy for in-game actions, that's catching, transferring and hatching eggs.
The change also impacts the buddy system, with the increased Pokemon including Meowth and Marowak, Muk and Ekans, Kadabra and Alakazam, Shellder and Cloyster, Cubone, Golbat, Magikarp and Gyarados, Tentacool and more.
They were a much easier catch too.
